Suno's $250M raise hits different when you've lived both sides of this conversation. I was classically trained as a violinist at 13, graduated from LaGuardia High School of Music & Art, studied at Manhattan School of Music, played keys on the road, composed, arranged, produced, and recorded my own works. My foundation came from studying Bach, Beethoven, Schubert, Coltrane, Parker, Monk, Ellington. When I absorbed their phrasing or harmonic language, was I stealing? When those influences show up in my music, is that theft? That's how musicians grow—every artist builds on those before them. Emulation is part of mastery. Yes, questions exist about training data and compensation. The industry must address them. But creativity has always built on what came before. We didn't call drum machines, Auto-Tune, or synthesizers theft. We feared them, then embraced them. At Algorithmic Sōnis, I'm building AI music systems because AI isn't replacing musicianship; it's expanding it. Artistry still comes from human choices, taste, and imagination. Congrats to the Suno team. The future I'm building just got more real.

Mikey Shulman Don't forget AI can't beat human creativity. Suno can be used as a promoter for music inspiration but ultimately it will be the human who composes high-level music.
