A really well done piece by Nicole Kobie for ITPro on Sonar's developer survey results—here's the critical part: Tariq Shaukat, CEO of Sonar, said the research highlights a “fundamental shift” in software development, whereby value is no longer simply defined by the speed at which code can be written, but by the "confidence in deploying it”. This may be where programming languages with richer static type systems can be very beneficial. They can add layer of correctness enforcement and effect tracking to cut down the error space automatically.
