This week has been monumental for the Eastern Africa Alliance on Carbon Markets and Climate Finance Africa Alliance. Following several discussions, we signed a cooperation agreement with the Global Carbon Council (GCC) at their headquarters in Doha, Qatar. This agreement will provide much needed capacity support for the implementation of Articl 6.2 in the region both through technical support and potentially, at the country's discretion, registry infrastructure through the use of the Carbon Management Infrastructure, a game changing digital suite that will enable reporting and transparency across the spectrum of the carbon project development and credits exchange. We look forward to developing this partnership and bringing tangible carbon market readiness outcomes to Eastern Africa. This is an excellent example of South-South cooperation and we acknowledge the GCC Chairman, Dr. Yousef Alhorr, the COO Kishor Rajhansa , the Principle Advisor- Strategy Massamba Thioye and the GCC team for this initiative to strengthen carbon markets readiness in Africa. #GIZ Uganda #Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH # East African Development Bank # VCMI #IETA #AUDA NEPAD #Office of Kenya's Special Envoy for Climate Change#Climate Focus # Perspectives Climate Group #Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA)
