As many of us begin our post-Verizon chapters, I’ve been reflecting on the work we’ve accomplished together — and the impact it will continue to have long after we move on. One of the greatest honors of my time at Verizon was serving on a cross-functional transportation team that helped elevate a powerful national narrative: how years of investment in spectrum and network innovation have positioned Verizon as a critical partner in America’s transportation safety strategy. Last week, we had the privilege of hosting U.S. Department of Transportation CIO Pavan Pidugu and his leadership team at our Ashburn facility. We showcased our new Edge Transportation Exchange System — a transformative platform that uses the strength of our 5G network to enable vehicles, pedestrians, and roadway infrastructure to communicate in near real time. This work represents more than technology. It represents partnership, public-sector collaboration, and a shared commitment to safety, modernization, and innovation. I’m grateful to have contributed to a solution that will continue to evolve and support the USDOT’s mission long into the future. To my fellow colleagues who are also transitioning: thank you for your dedication, leadership, and vision. What we built together matters — and its impact will carry forward.
