#PeopleOfAltum: meet Laura Chen, Business Manager at Altum Consulting “I am a Business Manager within Altum’s Charity and Not-for-Profit team, specialising in interim recruitment. It feels like a natural progression from my public sector background, and I love partnering with organisations that are driven by purpose as well as performance.” A fun fact about Laura: “I am a certified scuba diver and have completed over 100 dives around the world. I have explored Indonesia, including Raja Ampat, which has one of the most biodiverse marine ecosystems on the planet, as well as the Philippines, Australia, Mexico, and Belize, where the world’s second largest reef is found. Night dives are my favourite, because you see an entirely different ecosystem come to life, often with species that you can’t even find in the fish identification books.” What Laura loves about working at Altum: “Without question, it is the people and the team culture. Recruitment has its highs and lows, but our team is collaborative, supportive, and genuinely cares about each other. Working with charities and non-profits is also a real highlight. I get to learn about so many different missions, causes, and ways organisations are trying to make a positive impact, which is incredibly motivating.” Laura’s passions outside of work: “Outside of Altum, diving is still a big passion of mine, and I grab any chance I can to get back underwater. I am also a huge tennis fan. I started playing three years ago and have been playing competitively for the last year. I watch tennis almost every night and I am a big Jannik Sinner supporter. I have been lucky enough to go to the Australian Open and the French Open, and I would love to tick off the remaining Grand Slams. I also really enjoy photography, especially whilst I’m travelling.” We asked Laura to share two truths and a lie.
