Several years ago I was excited for the development of autonomous vehicles and went to work for a company that I thought had potential. Unfortunately there are only a couple of companies out there that can provide the resources and focus to one day make it work. Having seen it firsthand, there is still a lot of work needs to be done before you can really trust semi-autonomous/autonomous technology.
One day. As a driver, I don't trust. My experience has my adaptive cruise control braking whenever I pass a semi. The lane control cannot identify when lanes are painted over in a construction zone. Cameras get dirty leading to questionable results. Addionally, the Automotive Industry needs to put up guardrails on privacy data.
