Casey Collins’ Post

I’ve been quiet for a while on Linked In but now feel able to share some news. After 35 years of corporate life in banking, and business improvement consultancy I wanted a complete change in work/life balance. Stress can creep up on you and you don’t often recognise how it destroys your mental health and wellbeing. I tried retirement early, and got bored quickly. So after 6 months intensive training I’ve retrained to be a guard on the railways working for Great Western Railways. As a train enthusiast as a boy you could say this is a paid hobby, but it goes to show it’s never too late to teach a dog new tricks. So I’m now on the right track, I’ve spotted the signals and I’m chuffed to bits! 🤣🤣🚅

Great news Casey. Retirement, pretty much like work , needs your total commitment. If it’s not right for you, you need to learn how to move on. Looks like you have and onto something you are clearly passionate about. That’s where good people become assets to their companies. Well done. 👍

Love this Dad. A career U-turn smoother than most train journeys in Britain (or maybe not with you onboard now). After everything you’ve given to your career, it’s amazing to see you choose something that gives back to you. Proud of you! 🚆x

I know exactly how you feel... I'm just over 2 years into my career change as a groundsman and absolutely love it... Enjoy doing something you love purely because you want to!

Fantastic news, well done Case. I think there comes a moment when we ask ourselves ’why am I doing this?’ but the hard bit is to find something we love. Sounds like you’ve nailed it. Massive respect ✊

Amazing! Put a smile on my face just reading it. How lucky I am to have a role model like you ☺️

Ah, love this Casey. Enjoy! Oh, and if you could offer your thoughts on continuous improvement ideas for better networks and over crowding that would be ace 🤣😀👊🏻

Love this Case! Most people chose to slow down after 35 years of corporate life, not you onboard the Hitachi 802 🚄💨

Great work Casey, well done. I’m chuffed to bits that you’ve found a new calling and your smile speaks volumes to all who know you. Watch that waistline though otherwise we’ll have to call you the “fat controller” going forward. Take care and good luck!

Fantastic - that’s amazing Casey! All the very best to you in your new career. I too haven’t been on LinkedIn for ages. I still remember those days we shared an office at Sevenoaks Mortgage Centre - hidden away in the basement! Good luck and “mind the doors!”

Looking good in uniform Case
