From market leader to cautionary tale and now, a comeback? Once upon a time, Nokia dominated the mobile market. Then they lost it all. Not because the product stopped working, but because innovation stopped leading. They hesitated when the world shifted from hardware to software. From phones to ecosystems. From “what we make” to “what customers experience.” But here’s the twist, in 2025, Nokia is quietly making a comeback. 💡 A $1B strategic investment from Nvidia has reignited growth. 💡 Q3 revenue rose 11.6% year-on-year to $4.8B, driven by 5G and networking infrastructure powering AI data centres. 💡 Retail investor sentiment jumped from 41 to 75 just before the announcement. Nokia’s relevance in the AI era. The lesson? Even when you fall down, it doesn’t mean you can’t get back up. You just have to keep going. In sales, leadership, and life, reinvention is everything. Because success isn’t about avoiding failure; it’s about adapting faster than the market moves. So when the world changes again (and it will), ask yourself: Are you waiting to see what happens, or creating what’s next?
Nokia Mobile and Nokia Network, very different thing.
Whilst it is generally stated Nokia failed to innovate, the truth is far different. Most of Nokia' innovations were ahead of time (and market). Apple products brought in such features years after they were either a PoC or defined in low & mid end products. Nokia underwent a series of events intrinsic and extrinsic (viz., Android and iPhone ecosystems) - redefining the mobile phone capabilities and experience. ..Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face...but then again those with resilience redefine themselvs and rise agan... is true for companies also...
Survival of the fittest... True success is getting back up and reinventing yourself.
hi Cathy Bennett you are totally right but companies also have to show to the market that they are really delivering something....see Nokia share price and compare with others...maybe no so fantastic reinvention outcome.
Nokia was an essential part of everyone's life during the 2000s, providing the luxury of mobile communication to millions around the world. It gave many their first taste of mobile technology, shaping how we connect and communicate. The brand holds immense sentimental value in the hearts of its loyal users, and it's truly inspiring to see Nokia making a comeback in the tech world. Congratulations on your current achievements, and I wish Nokia continued success as it continues to innovate and lead in the AI era!
And its the only phone my kids will get any time soon! So even the old feature phone is coming back 🤩
We loved and still love this phone and Nokia
Cathy Bennett Is Nokia company making a comeback in smartphone segment?
Nokia really does run in the heart of those who were part of the journey. And now to see the reinvention to bring back the brand name that held so much “power” is inspiring
