Technology leaders have a powerful opportunity to make a difference by reducing carbon emissions from the ICT sector. In collaboration with the University of Leicester through our #CGISEEDS programme, we've developed a practical Green Software Guide to help drive sustainable software practices. The guide provides actionable steps covering everything from purchasing and development to optimisation and deployment—empowering organisations to align their tech strategies with global sustainability goals. EU “Quick Fix” on ESRS – what does it mean for companies in the first CSRD wave? On July 11, 2025, the European Commission published a delegated act (“Quick Fix”) to the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). The aim: to extend the transitional provisions for first-wave CSRD companies and make implementation more practical. Who is affected? Large, listed companies with more than 500 employees, which are already required to report for fiscal year 2024. Key changes at a glance • Postponement until 2027: Certain disclosure requirements – such as expected financial impacts of sustainability topics – will now apply only from fiscal year 2027. • Extension of reliefs: Phase-in provisions, previously limited to companies ≤750 employees, now apply to all first-wave companies. This includes ESRS E4 (Biodiversity), S2 (Workers in the value chain), S3 (Affected communities), and S4 (Consumers and end-users). • Germany-specific situation: Due to the failed national implementation at the end of 2024, German first-wave companies are still reporting under HGB. Once the implementation law takes effect, EU reliefs will apply as well. Important for “Early Movers” Many German companies voluntarily published ESRS-compliant reports in 2024. According to EFRAG, this has no impact on transitional timelines: phase-in periods only start with the first mandatory reporting year. Entry into force • Objection period: expired on September 11, 2025 • Publication in the Official Journal: mid-November 2025 • Effective date: 3 days after publication Conclusion The Quick Fix provides significant relief for the first reporting wave. Companies gain more time to establish complex disclosures – from biodiversity to supply chain to financial impacts of sustainability. At the same time, the direction is clear: transparency and comparability of sustainability information are becoming the European standard. ⸻ 👉 My advice: Don’t use the transition period to wait, use it to build. Now is the time to strengthen data quality, processes, and IT systems as a solid foundation for the future. As a platform already trusted by more than 500 enterprises, Pulsora helps companies establish ESRS-compliant data structures, make smart use of transitional reliefs – and secure a clear path toward full compliance. #Pulsora #CSRD #QuickFix #ESG #Sustainability

❓Why do so many EMIS implementations fall short? Despite strong intentions and demand for quality education data, many Education Management Information Systems (EMIS) struggle to take root. The challenges aren't isolated; they're part of a cycle of interconnected failures. ▶️The problem with silo thinking Systems often operate in fragmented silos, lacking interoperability and failing to gather reliable data from all schools. This is compounded by weak infrastructure, including poor connectivity, outdated hardware, and shaky technical platforms. Teams at ministries often lack training, institutional support, and the resources to sustain implementation. ▶️A sense of isolation At a governance level, many countries are missing or have unclear policy frameworks, limited accountability and absent governance structures, and no long-term sustainability planning. Even when the technology systems are in place, they're often too technically complex, with poor usability, missing documentation, and inadequate user support. While cooperation with other countries is widely supported in principle given the similarity of challenges faced, in practice there's still a sense of isolation and duplicated investment, with few mechanisms for meaningful collaboration. ⏩So what's the way forward? Countries can choose to fix existing systems, contract private vendors, or take a more ambitious step: co-invest in an open-source EMIS platform with shared resources and coordinated governance. All of these paths can work, but always with one goal in mind, to turn data into real, lasting, evidence-led educational reform. Sustainability in EMIS is not a product of activity alone—it’s the result of deliberate systems thinking, policy alignment, and long-term stakeholder engagement. From my work with Ministries and regional bodies globally, I’ve seen how sustainable EMIS frameworks emerge when governance, data standards, and institutional capacity are prioritized alongside technology. It’s about building systems that are resilient, responsive, and rooted in national development goals. #EMIS #EducationSystems #DataGovernance #Sustainability #PolicyAlignment #EducationTransformation
