Chesterfield Planning Commission Scam Alert: Fake Emails

⚠️ Scam Alert: Beware Fake Chesterfield Planning Commission Emails ⚠️ Chesterfield County and the Chesterfield County Planning Commission are aware of a fraudulent email scam targeting some residents which falsely claims to be from the Planning Commission. These emails, which have been sent from "planning.chesterfield.gov@usa.com" and reference a “conditional use approval fee,” are fraudulent and are not from Chesterfield County or its Planning Commission. This scam is able to appear official because it includes skimmed information from publicly available zoning documents and appears on a quick glance to be legitimate. However, these emails are not associated with the county in any way. 🔹 Chesterfield County will never send out an email asking for payment via wire transfer, credit card or Automated Clearing House (ACH). 🔹 Always confirm official emails end in "@chesterfield.gov". 🔹 If in doubt, call 804-748-1050 to verify. If you have sent money or you feel you have been a victim of a scam, contact Chesterfield County Police’s non-emergency line at 804-748-1251.
