Christoph Behn’s Post

Five principles that help us run Celebrate and build better products for our customers. And we’re hiring a CPO who can align with our principles. Over the last 15 years as a founder, investor, and now again as CEO, I’ve learned one thing the hard way: building a company is never just about strategy, tools, or frameworks. It’s about making decisions as a team. Principles done right make decision-making easier. They are guidelines for every team member to live and work by. I originally shared our principles on stage at the Just Product Conference 2025 a few weeks ago (thanks for the invite, Thomas Hartmann!). 🎉 Delight your customers Real insights come from deep listening, not assumptions. Two years of customer support taught me more than any framework. When you feel what customers feel, you build differently. ⚡ Iterate to excel Ambitious goals + small, fast changes = exponential results. Our 140% growth year came from a 40% conversion lift — driven by understanding what customers really needed first, marketing second. 🧭 Act with ownership Autonomy works only when people are empowered to say no. Mindset beats skills: curiosity, decisiveness, and the courage to disagree. 🤝 Embrace meaningful connection Psychological safety is the foundation of every great (product) team. Being vulnerable, empathetic, and deeply listening to each other builds psychological safety. 🌱 Begin with yourself Your fears and beliefs shape the culture. After “having it all”, I burned out – and only then understood how much my own patterns influenced our teams. Self-reflection and transformation are increasingly part of our Celebrate culture. Product work is emotional work. And when teams feel safe, focused and connected, they build better products and enjoy the process more. If you read this and think: “This is how I see product too” – we’d love to talk. We’re looking for our next Chief Product Officer. Link is in the comments. What’s your secret to great products?

Love this framing: “product work is emotional work.” For me, it’s the work at the intersection of tech, org design, and leadership. Over the last 10+ years in e-commerce and digital value creation, I’ve seen that the best outcomes come when you: Sit very close to customers & operations (delight over assumptions), ship lots of small, honest experiments instead of big-bang bets, and create a culture where people feel safe to disagree, own decisions, and grow. Your five principles resonate quite well with me. My own leadership journey has taught me how much my patterns shape team culture and product decisions.

Damn, I had to leave early and missed your talk 🤷♂️ I experienced that beginning with oneself enables us to embrace meaningful connections and this is the base to be able to truly make the difference in product & innovation

Tolle Prinzipien.

my secret is to have no secrets. Transparancy and openness bring all the information a team needs to meet informed decisions

Beautifully put. These principles really resonate with me. They’re a reminder that in the end, it’s about how we show up as humans, not just as roles. On a personal note, there’s something powerful about how your growth through AoA and having a VIEW mindset shows up in the way we work at celebrate, Christoph. Thanks for being you.

Love how personal these are! Can't wait to work with them on a day-to-day basis 😉

Thanks for sharing your thoughts at the conference, Christoph! Radical honest, open and full of experience. Certainly touched me and I think many others as well ☺️ Great talk!

Kommentar für mein Netzwerk und da ich jahrelang mit Christoph arbeiten durfte und daher die Firma kenne, eine absolute Herzensempfehlung!
