My guy, my guy, this is the power boat of whale heads. The nature of the sea is anything can happen at any time. Calling Mayday, this is pretty risky, Sydney. It can turn scary very quickly. It's intense from the moment you get through the door you switched on, you go out and conduct that training and then if the call comes in, you're ready to take action if need be. We had a 50 foot white boat called out camp short about 8:30 PM. Boat was out of fuel, Three persons on board. There were two women sailors. This boat hadn't communicated its location since midnight, was in heavy seas. They capsized. You can hear the fear, especially people in severe danger. You just follow the protocol, which we're trained to do. We're staying constant contact with them to try and keep them calm. This is very risky, Sydney. And keep them reassured that help is on the way. If they're in danger, we pull out all stops to get their ships, all ships, all ships. By the time we'd located the boat it was close to midnight and it was a hugely proud moment for all of us to raft up to them and pull them to safety. Luckily they were found clinging to the boat so they had a 15 hour ordeal before they were finally saved. What got me into Marine rescue was being able to be there and people's time of need. Your team relies on you. Members of public rely on you. You want to be the best person you can be. It gives you a purpose. Everybody's got that same desire. Our priority is saving lives on the water. When you've got your uniform on, I feel proud to wear that. You had so many members that have such a wide array of experience and knowledge. You're always learning. Volunteering drives the country, that's our role, that we look after people in times of need on the water.
