Emily Balcombe is an ESG Manager – Reporting & Engagement at RS, where she’s been making an impact for 14 months. From shaping how we share progress to sparking conversation around sustainability, Emily is passionate about creating accountability that inspires action. We caught up with her to learn how she brings #DoTheRightThing to life every day, through data, dialogue, and doing what matters. Q1. What’s a snapshot of a normal day for you at RS? EB: "Outside of our annual reporting season, I’m tailoring our ESG communications to a range of audiences and adapting our reporting approach to make sure we’re compliant with sustainability regulations. Every day is different, but I spend a lot of time with Excel and PowerPoint!" Q2. What keeps you motivated and engaged at RS? EB: "There’s a tremendous amount of trust and respect which allows people to showcase their skills and develop new ones. It’s the kind of culture where who people are matters as much as what they do." Q3. What’s one experience at RS that’s really stayed with you? EB: "Last year, the ESG team spent an afternoon volunteering for Cook for Good, a fantastic non-profit that runs a community pantry local to the London office. We spent a few hours cooking up a Spanish feast in their industrial kitchen (it was much calmer than The Bear, I promise!) – the majority of the meals were distributed to those in need, but a small amount was reserved for an absolutely delicious meal to celebrate our hard work.
