Strong messaging is one of the most powerful tools early-stage founders can master because when it’s working, it can build belief and trust. But messaging isn’t one-and-done. It should evolve with every milestone: • Coming out of stealth • Landing your first customer • Announcing funding • Entering a new market One of the biggest shifts is recognizing that your understanding of the problem and solution isn’t automatically shared by the market. What resonates with VCs might not land with CISOs. What excites you might confuse a journalist. From our experience supporting hundreds of cybersecurity founders, assume no one believes your story yet and focus on earning that belief through your messaging strategy. When messaging is sharp, people get it faster. Trust builds quicker. Sales cycles compress. How is your messaging helping others understand and believe what you already know?

OK, so *disclaimer* this isn't the Beard's best video work. However, I am keen to open up some further insight on the Palo Alto Networks and CyberArk deal in my usual style for my network before it's old news. You're probably aware of the intended deal size, as it's a whopper, but you might not fully understand the reasons PAN are content to make such a momentumental investment, or what it could mean for the identity world. Spend 3 mins learning! I'd also recommend you read Doug Woodburn's IT Channel Oxygen's recent article which draws input from top channel technologists, including Guy Golan and Kieron Newsham. I'm keen also to promote the Cleveland Research Company, who have been a constant source of superb insight over the past few years. The team of people, especially Brian Wilcox, there are also some of the most stand-up people and researchers that I've had the privilege of spending time with. They provide rounded, on-the-pulse news and insights at both vendor, channel, and market levels. If you're an individual who can share insights, subscribe, and if you're a business looking for deep research, consider a subscription. So, it's probably worth my slight disappointment of the video itself to share some solid insights. PAN have proven time and time again what a superb business they are and what intelligent M&A minds work there. A few months ago, they acquired one of the brightest #AI security startups, Protect AI, who exhibit some of the clearest thinking, execution, and potential for securing AI at source. Add in CyberArk's brilliance and relevance to address the machine and human identity world... it's not just great business, it's essential investment and solutioning for the innovation of the cybersecurity world. Bravo, #PAN!

Here are my 3 Bold (and Probably Wrong) Cybersecurity M&A Predictions from a Quota-Chasing Sales Rep... This will age well 😅 I spend my days getting hung up on by CISOs and losing deals to "budget freezes," so clearly I'm qualified to predict billion-dollar acquisitions. Here's what this perpetually optimistic pipeline forecaster thinks will happen in the next 24 to 36 months: 1. Microsoft Acquires SentinelOne for $15B The Logic: MSFT's security stack is impressive, but they're still playing catch-up in endpoint detection. SentinelOne's AI + Microsoft's enterprise relationships = game over for CrowdStrike's pricing power Why I'm Wrong: Microsoft thinks they can build it internally for $50M. Spoiler: they can't. 2. Okta Acquires Silverfort for $8B The Logic: Okta's breach hangover means they need zero-trust credibility. Silverfort's agentless approach solves every CISO's nightmare: "How do I secure this 15-year-old database that runs our business?" 3. Elastic Acquires Tanium for $12B The Plot Twist: A search/observability company buying an EDR vendor sounds insane. Like your accountant becoming a Navy SEAL. But Elastic's data stack + Tanium's endpoint reach = they'd know more about your environment than your own IT team. I'm totally wrong on the one above, but I guarantee you that we are going to see more observability companies with HUGE booths are RSA and BlackHat in 2026 and beyond... My Track Record: I once refused a job from Salesforce because "The future is in Hardware" according to 20 y/o me. So naturally, bet against everything I just wrote. Share your most outrageous M&A prediction below. Bonus points if it involves a company that's currently "not for sale." 👀

Massive ROI we're seeing for cybersecurity teams: helping sales reps effectively engage technical personas (e.g. CIOs, CISOs) Non-technical sales reps struggle to articulate why highly technical products matter to CIOs and CISOs. They need to identify "why change and why now" for solutions they sometimes don't fully understand themselves. This disconnect costs companies in two critical ways: 1. Wasted time on inefficient account research that doesn't yield actionable insights. 2. Missed opportunities when messaging fails to resonate with technical decision-makers. AI excels precisely where this gap exists. It can rapidly synthesize technical information and translate it into compelling narratives that make sense to both sales reps and their prospects. The most successful cybersecurity companies now use AI to execute this research at scale before SKO each quarter. This preparation enables reps to start the quarter at full speed with messaging that actually resonates. Sales teams save countless hours on account research while significantly improving conversion rates through more precise, relevant messaging. One of the few AI use cases that deliver clear, tangible ROI quickly. #gtmai #sales #cybersecuritysales

Seeing a lot of FUD plays in the AI space: “use our product or lose your job” as the key takeaway. It was lazy and in poor taste in Cybersecurity marketing and it’s lazy and in poor taste now. As an early marketer at Cloudflare, we knew that we had enough value to offer the market without scaring people into thinking they needed us. So to the sales and marketing teams at AI companies: if the only thing you can come up with is to scare people into thinking they’ll be irrelevant rather than inspiring them with what you can offer, dig in deeper on what value you can bring. And work on your craft a bit more.
