Farmers Insurance’s Post

Exciting news in California! 👀 #WeAreFarmers #CaliforniaInsurance

Farmers Insurance is expanding its home insurance options throughout California. As the state's second-largest homeowners insurer, it plans to directly market to about 300,000 consumers in wildfire-affected areas starting in early 2026. In a significant development, Farmers has also lifted its monthly cap on new homeowners insurance policies effective immediately, and has submitted a rate application to support growth under my Sustainable Insurance Strategy. This action reflects a commitment from now six companies—including four of the state’s leading homeowners carriers: Farmers, Mercury, CSAA, and USAA, along with Pacific Specialty and CA Casualty—to maintain and expand their operations. This shift marks a dramatic change from the previous 30 years, which led to our unprecedented insurance crisis, during which companies often raised rates and reduced coverage after wildfires, frequently without assurance of returning to high-risk areas. Despite all the misinformation and attacks, we have done the hard-work, modernized our regulations by leveraging forward-looking technology, appropriately pricing risk, rewarding consumers for mitigation efforts, enhancing consumer protections, and transforming our department's culture to focus on anticipating risk rather than merely reacting to it. We are making progress.

This is very refreshing to see Farmers helping out the communities in need!
