Infosys Foundation’s Post

In a recent Times of India article titled “Yakshagana artistes find strength in community,” Infosys Foundation was recognized for its commitment to keeping the vibrant art form of coastal Karnataka alive. Yakshagana, with its mesmerizing dance, elaborate costumes, and rich storytelling, has seen its artists face economic challenges in recent years, leaving them struggling to sustain their craft. To address this, #InfosysFoundation partnered with Yakshagana Kalaranga, an institute dedicated to promoting and nurturing this tradition. Together, we have supported initiatives that spark interest among youth, provide research and training, and offer scholarships to talented students. Kalaranga organizes over 20 performances annually, conducts seminars and workshops, and runs training programs in 46 schools across Udupi. Its wing, Vidya Poshak, has been empowering students since 2005 through scholarships, book banks, and development camps - benefiting over 1,000 students this year alone. Furthering these efforts, we helped build the Infosys Foundation Yakshagana Development, Training and Research Centre - a 30,000 sq. ft. space with an auditorium, classrooms, a museum, and more. This center is a safe haven where heritage meets opportunity. We hope that this timeless art form will continue to inspire generations. #InfosysCSR | #Art | #Culture | #Yakshagana
