Joe Ort’s Post

For those of us further along in our careers (that's how you nicely say "old", right?), have you ever been part of a team you were really thankful to be a part of? As I spent the weekend at my alma mater for our 20th anniversary of our 2nd Patriot League championship, I got to spend time with guys that bonded over our love of football. We got to reminisce about all kinds of memories, from the shenanigans that come with college life (and being before phone cameras/streaming were a thing) and our march towards multiple championships. We all returned to watch this year's team (coached by one of our former coaches and 2 of our teammates) play against our bitter rivals. #4 Lehigh vs #24 Lafayette. The 161st playing of "The Rivalry" - the most played rivalry in college football. Both teams came in 6-0 in conference play. Whoever wins, takes the championship home. Unfortunately, our guys couldn't stop them and made enough mistakes to end up on the wrong side of a 42-32 game. With other results making it almost impossible to earn an at-large playoff bid, the team's season came to an end. On my way home, it reminded me of another team that battled through so much that I'm grateful to have been a part of. I still get to check in with a bunch of the team from my time at SiriusDecisions. I started there with about 10-15 other people. Over 9 years, we outgrew offices, expanded to San Francisco and then the UK and finally Singapore. We grew from $8M in ARR to >$75 before I left. The bonds we created and friendships that last to this day endure. We didn't know how good we had it at the time. We just wanted to perform at a high level. We wanted to support others and their growth. As we head into the Thanksgiving holiday, what team are you most thankful for? What made that team special?

Great summary of what it felt like to be at SD Joe! Happy Thanksgiving to you + the family.

SD was like the 2003 Red Raiders. One of the greatest ever.

Joe Ort Didn’t know you were a fellow Leopard. It was a great game and terrific work against a huge Lehigh line.
