Next on our journey through Africa & Asia, we arrive at Ghana – where agriculture is more than a livelihood; it’s a source of opportunity and innovation. 🌱 Yara Ghana continues to drive this transformation by empowering farmers, advancing digital tools, and strengthening research for sustainable growth. 👩🏾🌾 Empowering women and farmers with disabilities: Through partnerships such as the Women in Food and Agricultural Leadership Training Forum (WOFAGRIC) and Gold in the Soil Awards with Agrihouse Foundation, Yara Ghana has supported over 120,000 women farmers and persons with disabilities – providing access to training, mentorship, and opportunities to thrive. 📱 Fighting counterfeits through digital innovation: To protect farmers and ensure product authenticity, Yara Ghana introduced QR-coded verification via YaraConnect. Indonesia is showing how Islamic finance can unlock new streams of capital for nature, turning values of stewardship and responsibility into real-world conservation impact. BIOFIN Global Manager Martin Cadena speaks from the Maluku Conservation Centre in Indonesia’s Maluku islands — home to some of the world’s most unique parrots and cockatoos — the fight against wildlife trafficking is also a story of hope. 🕊️ At the Centre, rescued animals get a second chance to return to the wild — thanks to an innovative financing model that’s as groundbreaking as the work itself. This Centre was built using a Green Sukuk, a faith-based financing instrument that’s unlocking new resources for biodiversity protection — showing how sustainable finance can help heal nature, one life at a time. 🌿 Through instruments like the sukuk that funded the Maluku Conservation Centre and 9 others like it, Indonesia has emerged as a global pioneer in using Green Sukuk to finance biodiversity and climate action — blending faith-based finance with environmental innovation. #BIOFIN #FinanceForNature #Indonesia #Maluku #WildlifeRescue #EndemicSpecies #GreenSukuk #InnovativeFinance #Biodiversity #UNDP #FaithBasedFinance

The COCO Social Fund team recently had the opportunity to speak with Bapak Bintang, a dedicated farmer from Cepaka Village. Standing amidst his rice fields, he shared stories of daily life that are far from easy. Plastic waste often flows through the irrigation channels, and during harvest season, grain prices can drop significantly. Despite these challenges and the rapid development of villas across Bali, he remains committed to preserving and cultivating his rice fields. His story reflects the real challenges faced by many local farmers, voices that inspire us to establish the 𝐂𝐨𝐜𝐨 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫, a space for education and real action toward cleaner, plastic-free villages. The journey is far from over, and we invite you to follow along as we take each step toward a better future for Cepaka. ⸻ COCO 𝘊𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘋𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘴, 𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘮 #CocoDevelopment #Cocosocialfund #CocolearningcenterCepaka

From Cashew Shells to Green Machines: The Rise of PureLube 1. It all started in Tamale's vibrant markets, where Fareeda Bagya Mustapha (Ghana) and Najlau Zakaria (Ghana) saw waste as an opportunity. 2. Both knew the toll of costly, imported lubricants—farmers struggling to maintain machinery, ecosystems choked by oil waste. 3. They asked: What if Ghana's cashew shells could fuel a sustainable revolution? 4. That question gave rise to PureLube in 2024, a startup that turns agricultural waste into eco-friendly lubricants. 5. For farmers, it's transformative: affordable, biodegradable oils keep tractors running without breaking the bank. 6. For the environment, it's a game-changer: locally sourced cashew shells reduce waste and cut reliance on fossil-based oils. 7. PureLube is Ghana first; designed for rural farmers, leveraging local supply chains and low-cost production. 8. Since its launch, it has powered over 50,000 machines and created jobs for more than 1,000 Ghanaians. 9. The company has expanded beyond Ghana, partnering with agribusinesses in Nigeria and Côte d'Ivoire. 10. Fareeda and Najlau's vision is bold: a green industrial ecosystem where Africa's farms fuel their own machinery. From cashew waste to sustainable power—PureLube is redefining Africa's agricultural future. #purelube #OilandGas #Tamale #Sustainability #Africa #Entrepreneurship #Innovation #startupJourney #startupSuccess #startupnews
