Michael Garner’s Post

My own reminder of perspective, (for whatever it might be worth to others) Challenging work day yesterday. Wasn't on top of my game and I brought it home with me. Grumpy Dad.... My kids, (now 16 and 11) offered me some grace. Said some nice things and offered a few reminders before bed. This picture pops up on my Facebook feed this morning, obviously reminding me that time is fleeting. These were our holiday pictures 10 years ago, (today). My time with them home every night and actually caring about my day is getting shorter and shorter. Personal reminders: -There will be plenty of more challenging work days to come -Leave Grumpy Dad in the car when you arrive at home -Reset the mind the following day and set things up for success -Appreciate the kiddos and the grace and kindness that they offer

The engagement on this post over the past several days has been rewarding. I've enjoyed reading through the comments and chatting with people that found it beneficial in some way. My kids were the driver of these thoughts and admissions. Being that we just went ahead and completed our annual holiday pictures over the Thanksgiving long weekend, I feel compelled to share the, "10-years later" update. This time around includes a 5th member of the family, (Cru) who joined us in late 2018. Happy Holidays! (Photo credit: Michele Wolff Photography)

While it is not ideal to share our grumpy sides after a tough day. It shows our kids that we aren't perfect and we have emotions. But, we can forgive ourselves, and they us, and rise to a new day. Appreciate the post.

Awareness is HUGE!! At home I’ve earned the nickname “NFB” (no fun Bryant)😂😂 We often save our worst for those we love the most.

You and I are in the same boat buddy. One leaving next year and one the year after that. Could not agree more. Enjoy every minute.

Love it Michael Garner! We definitely gain more perspective the older we get!
