Congratulations to the Village of Higginsport, Ohio and our project partners on the groundbreaking of Slim Sallee Memorial Park! Through the Appalachian Community Grant Program administered by the Ohio Department of Development Governor’s Office of Appalachia, the Village of Higginsport developed a revitalization plan for a prime site along the Ohio River, transforming an abandoned ballfield into a vibrant public space connected to the village’s main commercial area. The vision centers on creating gathering spaces, an open lawn space, performance stage structure, restroom facilities, and enhancing river access with a boat dock, launch, fishing pier, and pedestrian pathways. Plans also include RV campsites aimed to boost tourism and economic growth. MKSK served as the procured planner and prime consultant for the Village of Higginsport, working with village officials and residents to create a cohesive vision and plan for the site.
