3 scenarios for Web content in the age of genAI: 1. Content creators starve: traditional traffic models collapse, content quality and diversity implode. 2. Media consolidates into a handful of powerful paid syndicates, creating new information fiefdoms, siloed knowledge, and regression to a pre-digital elitism. 3. Emergence of a new business model where AI and answer engines directly pay content creators proportional to usage, scarcity, and value. This means distributing a fraction of annual AI-generated revenue to maintain a functioning content ecosystem.
Wow, this really puts things into perspective 😮 Myriam Jessier
Really like how you framed scenario 3 as a new revenue model-content creators need to get paid for the value they generate.
These are some interesting takes. Interesting times we live in
this is really cool, 3 is definitely the way to go, i think the largest challenge with 3 would definitely be governance. right now attribution and licensing in ai models are a mess, there are no clear rules on who owns the content ai models are trained on, or how creators should be credited/paid. and i think future of ai's relationship with content hinges on how fairly those rules are defined.
