On this episode of the #AdvancesInCare podcast, #NYPWeillCornell psychiatrist Dr. Conor Liston discusses his work to map the brain to better understand and address treatment-resistant depression. He shares his discovery that a region of the brain known as the salience network is larger in depressed people, and how that could serve as a potential biomarker for risk of people becoming depressed. He also details how this finding could have implications for treatments such as transcranial magnetic stimulation, which can be effective for some patients who don’t respond to medication.
