Understanding and addressing post-stroke dysphagia on World Stroke Day

Each year, 795,000 people in the US have a stroke. 45% of those cases develop post-stroke dysphagia. On #WorldStrokeDay, we recognize the challenges of stroke recovery and the urgent need to  look beyond symptoms and address the root causes of stroke-related complications. For many stroke survivors, swallowing difficulties become a lasting barrier to nutrition, safety, and independence. Greater understanding of this often-overlooked challenge is essential to improving how we support people after stroke. A path to recovery starts with awareness, and with a commitment to advancing treatments that restore the function and dignity every patient deserves.
