Huntsville Airport designated as spaceport by FAA, key to commercial space transition

Huntsville will play a pivotal role in the transition to commercial space stations once the aging International Space Station is decommissioned in 2030 due to cost concerns. The Rocket City that will play important parts in that transition. In 2022, the Federal Aviation Administration approved Huntsville International Airport as a landing site for the Dream Chaser commercial space vehicle.
