In obstetric emergencies, every minute counts. Consistent, team-based training can mean the difference between a close call and a tragedy. Under the CMS Maternal Health Standards, hospitals with #obstetric services must demonstrate readiness for high-risk maternal events through routine simulation and competency validation, interdisciplinary drills and debriefings, and continuous performance assessment and improvement. These standards emphasize preparedness for five critical OB emergencies: 1️⃣ Postpartum hemorrhage — early recognition and team response 2️⃣ Hypertensive disorders and eclampsia — preventing stroke and seizure 3️⃣ Shoulder dystocia — precise, practiced maneuvers under pressure 4️⃣ Maternal sepsis — rapid identification and escalation of care 5️⃣ Unplanned cesarean — efficient coordination and OR readiness Consistent training reduces clinical risk AND helps close disparities in maternal outcomes. With more than 80% of pregnancy-related deaths preventable, hospitals that embed readiness into everyday practice can drive measurable improvements in safety, confidence, and equity. #MaternalHealth #HealthcareQuality #PatientSafety #NurseLeadership
