I never thought... how water gets treated. It's something that people just don't think about it, or wastewater. Basically, we go on a daily basis, we don't really think about when you flush your toilet you don't even know where the... where the where the water is going. You just keep going about your day. You don't realize there's so many jobs behind providing water, clean water to houses, you know, there's so many people working under the loop behind it to make it possible. It's it's it's amazing how hard people work just to get water to your house. And we just go on a daily basis without even noticing. My job duties are, replace, fix and troubleshoot pumps, valves and motors throughout the whole system that push clean water through the whole city. I think my favorite part of the job is, doing mechanical work. Having a wrench in my hands, putting grease on bolts, jumping in a vault, using big machinery, a winch truck, you know, pulling heavy equipment that's probably the favorite part of my job. I've been working with the City of Round Rock for eight years. I've been in this department for seven years. I started in wastewater line maintenance, I did a year and then I transfer over here. My department requires mechanical, electrical, plumbing; it's like a mixture of things. It's impossible to almost know everything. You have to know that there's always more to learn about everything. And even guys that been here for 20 or 30 years, they will still have desire to know more. Because, it's so much in this job that they you just never stop learning. My name is Victor Hernandez. I'm a system mechanic with the city of Round Rock. I love my job. I love what I do right now. It's it's perfect. Every day is something different. There's always something to learn.
