After a recent discussion with some peers, I found it interesting how differently Archicad and Revit users approach extending their software. Revit users are often quick to explore plugins, peer-made content, and add-ons that enhance their workflows. There’s a strong culture around improving the base software through community-driven innovation, finding tools that make everyday tasks faster, smarter, or more efficient. In contrast, many Archicad users tend to stay within the boundaries of the native tools. Archicad is a powerful platform on its own, no question, but it seems that a lot of users might be missing out on what’s possible when you start incorporating the incredible range of peer-made objects and add-ons that are available. I think there’s a lot of untapped potential here. By exploring and supporting user-created tools, Archicad could become even more capable and flexible for everyday practice. Yes, I’d like to promote Archibites as one way to extend the functionality of Archicad but there are many talented object and add-on developers out there whose work can transform the way you use the software. It’s well worth taking the time to see what’s out there. So, why hasn’t this same culture of user-driven expansion developed as strongly in the Archicad community? Is it awareness, accessibility, habit, or something else entirely? #Archibites #Archicad #ArchicadAddOns #ArchicadObjects #ArchicadDevelopers #ArchicadUsers #Revit #BIM #Architecture

A steep hillside, a tight budget, and a community that deserves better living. Vista Woods Apartments in Pinole takes on a 20 to 30 foot grade drop, adds a new bus stop and ride-share access for seniors, then layers in more than half an acre of outdoor space and community rooms. All while serving residents earning 30 to 80 percent of area median income. 🌿 Behind the scenes, Bell Design Group switched from Revit to Archicad to model complex forms with less friction, coordinate across time zones, and keep design iterations moving. BIMcloud kept a global team in sync. BIMx put drawing sets on tablets in the field. Bluebeam Studio tied hundreds of sheets together so reviews were faster and cleaner. Favorite detail, the team used Archicad schedules for QA and quick spot checks, which helped them pivot when shear wall costs spiked. Smart data, fewer re-dos. Curious how your team balances complex sites, public funding timelines, and multi-office workflows without slowing design quality?
