Science Creates’ Post

“𝘏𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘰𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘵 — 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬” — 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝘀 It did. And the result was Ziylo, Carbometrics and a thriving Deep Tech ecosystem. This week, Professor Anthony Davis received the Royal Medal for Applied Sciences from The Royal Society for his pioneering work on glucose-binding molecules. Thirty years of work in Professor Davis' group laid the foundations. Then a visionary PhD student decided to take his research into the real-world to revolutionise diabetes management, and the wheels really started to spin. Ziylo was founded and, with it, our story began. The University of Bristol has captured the full story in this brilliant short film, featuring Anthony, Harry Destecroix MBE, and Andrew Chapman (CEO of Carbometrics). PS. I still remember early meetings on the first generation IP. There was optimism but also a uniquely strong dose of determination! Delighted it was rewarded. Thanks for all you've done for treating diabetes, but also the Bristol ecosystem and beyond, Anthony Davis, Harry Destecroix MBE and Science Creates.
