Power BI Running Slow? Optimize Smarter. If your dashboards are lagging, it’s not your data, it’s how you're modeling it. Here’s how to boost performance: ✅ Import only the data you need ✅ Use star schema modeling ✅ Replace calculated columns with measures ✅ Leverage query folding & incremental refresh ✅ Minimize visuals per report page Power BI isn’t just about visualizing; it’s about optimizing for action. ⚙️ One of my favorite tools in Power BI is Power Query. It’s incredible how much time it saves during data cleaning and transformation — from removing duplicates to merging multiple data sources seamlessly. 🧹📊 Power Query makes the entire analysis process smoother, allowing me to focus more on insights rather than wrangling raw data. 💡 Power BI Reports Should Always Create Business Value — Not Just Look Good Too often, I’ve seen Power BI reports that are visually stunning… but fail to drive action. A beautiful dashboard means nothing if: - It doesn’t help a decision get made - It doesn’t answer a real business question - It’s built around data that no one actually uses Power BI is more than a reporting tool — it’s a decision-making tool. Every chart, metric, and filter should have a clear purpose that ties back to business outcomes. Here’s a simple test I like to use: ➡️ If this report disappeared tomorrow, who would notice? If no one would — it’s time to rethink the value it provides. Let’s focus on building Power BI reports that: ✅ Solve real problems ✅ Save time or money ✅ Drive measurable impact Because data without business value is just decoration. #PowerBI #DataAnalytics #BusinessIntelligence #DataStrategy #MicrosoftFabric #BusinessImpact

Ever spend way too long fixing a Power BI measure… only to realize the problem was one missing relationship? 😅 Yeah, same. Power BI is one of those tools that constantly humbles you — one minute you’re building dynamic visuals that make stakeholders go “wow,” and the next, you’re deep in the DAX abyss wondering why your total just tripled for no reason. But that’s also what I love about it. Every dashboard tells a story — not just about the data, but about the process of refining logic, optimizing models, and designing visuals that actually drive decisions, not just decorate slides. I still get that small thrill when I see an end-user click a slicer and instantly get the story behind the data. That’s the moment that makes all the debugging worth it. 💡 Whether you’re new to Power BI or a seasoned pro — we’ve all been there: 🔹 Forgetting to refresh the dataset 🔹 Overcomplicating a DAX formula 🔹 Or creating that one report that finally clicks for leadership Power BI isn’t just a tool — it’s a journey of turning chaos into clarity. What’s your most relatable Power BI moment? 👇 #PowerBI #DataAnalytics #DAX #DataStorytelling #BusinessIntelligence

Power BI is not as easy as you think. From the outside, it looks simple — just drag a few visuals, add some slicers, and you’re done. But that’s far from reality. Behind every “clean and interactive” Power BI dashboard, there’s a lot that goes unseen: 🔹 Data cleaning and transformation 🔹 Building relationships across multiple tables 🔹 Writing complex DAX measures (sometimes 20+ just for one report) 🔹 Performance optimization 🔹 Validation and business rule checks The final dashboard is just the presentation layer — the real work happens behind the scenes in modeling, logic, and optimization. So next time you see a beautiful Power BI report, remember — it’s not just visuals, it’s data strategy, logic, and precision at play. Power BI Story: From Chaos to Clarity A few months ago, I was handed a chaotic Excel file 25 tabs, inconsistent columns, and formulas that barely worked. Instead of fixing it manually, I rebuilt the process in Power BI: 1.Cleaned and transformed the data using Power Query 2.Created DAX measures for monthly KPIs 3.Automated daily refreshes using Power Automate What used to take 6 hours of manual work now runs automatically in 10 minutes. That’s what I love about analytics when clean data tells a story, decision making becomes effortless. #PowerBI #PowerAutomate #DataTransformation #Efficiency #MicrosoftPowerPlatform

Saw this from one of the posts — and it perfectly sums up what most Power BI users don’t see. Those sleek, interactive dashboards you use are often just 10% of the total work. The other 90% happens behind the scenes — from data preparation and modeling to DAX calculations, optimization, and testing. Below is a glimpse of a 22+ custom-built measures powering multiple KPIs. So next time you’re using a beautifully designed Power BI dashboard, take a moment to appreciate the experts behind it — the strategy, logic, and precision that make it all come to life. #PowerBI #DataAnalytics #DataProfessional #LearningInProgress #DataVisualization #DAX #BusinessIntelligence #DataJourney

Sick of writing the same DAX functions over and over again in Power BI? Microsoft just dropped User-Defined Functions (UDFs) in DAX in Preview. This new feature lets you define a calculation once and reuse it anywhere in your model. Instead of duplicating logic across multiple measures or visuals, you can now: Define a function once (e.g. FUNCTION AddTAX = (amount: NUMERIC) => amount * 1.1) Pass parameters (even tables) for more flexible logic Centralise business rules so updates flow through automatically It’s a huge leap for model governance, maintainability, and collaboration across teams. 👉 If you’re building Power BI models, enable it under File > Options > Preview Features and start cleaning up your DAX today. #PowerBI #DAX #Analytics #ModernWork

Power BI is one of the most underrated tools — it’s simple, visual, and insanely powerful when used right. Here’s my 10-Day Power BI Plan 👇 Days 1–3: Learn the basics — data modeling, DAX formulas, filters Days 4–6: Build 2 dashboards using open datasets Days 7–8: Add interactivity — slicers, drill-throughs, bookmarks Days 9–10: Focus on storytelling — layout, KPIs, color themes 🎯 The goal isn’t to master every feature — it’s to tell stories that drive decisions. What’s your favorite Power BI feature? #PowerBI #DataAnalytics #DataVisualization #AnalyticsCareer #CareerGrowth #ProductAnalytics

⚡ Power BI Sorting Limitation That Often Goes Unnoticed! Ever tried to sort your Power BI visual exactly the way you want, only to realize that Power BI doesn’t let you sort by your preferred logic? 😅 By default, Power BI allows sorting only by fields that exist as columns in your model. But what if you need a custom sort order : say, ranking customers by performance or products by sales volume? That’s where a small trick makes a big difference 👇 💡 The Smart Solution: Create a Calculated Column for Ranking- You can create a calculated column that defines the order you want your data to appear in - for example, ranking products or categories. RankBySales = RANKX(ALL('Product'[Product Name]), [Total Sales]) Then simply go to: ➡️ Model view → Select your category column → Sort by Column → RankBySales Now your visuals will follow the exact order you define - giving you full control over how your insights are displayed. ✨ A simple yet powerful trick that transforms how your visuals tell their story! 👉 Keep exploring — Power BI always rewards creativity! #PowerBI #BISparks #DataAnalytics #PowerBITips #DataVisualization #DAX #BusinessIntelligence #MicrosoftPowerBI #DataAnalytics #Data #Trending

💹In this video, I walk you through how to control drill-through filters in Power BI using the powerful REMOVEFILTERS DAX function. Drill-through reports are a great way to explore detailed insights, but sometimes your reporting requirement would need the drill-through not to govern some visuals. By applying REMOVEFILTERS, you’ll learn how to reset or override filters to give users a clearer, more flexible reporting experience.
