At the Watson Institute, our classrooms use a “Job Board” to help students build important life and vocational skills. Through daily responsibilities like classroom helper roles and “Employee of the Week” (students LOVE this fun feature!), students practice communication, organization, and motor skills, while also supporting speech and occupational therapy goals. These meaningful experiences help students gain confidence, independence, and pride in their work, while preparing for the next steps in their transition to adulthood. Are you interested in learning more about how you can integrate in-school jobs into your classroom and daily routine?
