Meet the dedicated team that works behind the scenes to ensure that water and sewer services are flowing and maintained properly for everyone in Holly Springs. From regular maintenance to emergency leaks, this talented team of everyday heroes is essential!
Discover a day in the life with the Town of Holly Springs staff who keep utilities running smoothly!
US providing 3 + 1,000,000 gallons a day of water to all of our residents, our sewer system is able to transfer that same water in the amount of 2 + 1,000,000 gallons a day down to our treatment plant just not seeing us until an emergency happens. There's a lot that goes on in between all of those emergencies that people don't realize what it takes to keep, you know, all the water flowing, all the sewer flowing to keep water safe and clean, we maintain. Utilities in ways that most people do not notice. The town performs preventative maintenance to prevent, you know, breaks and, and and problems within the sewer line. So we have a couple of pieces of equipment that we use, which is a CCTV camera, a jet truck, and we also have a what we call a combination truck. And we also do visual inspections where we walk through down the streets and we visually look into the manholes to check for problems as well. We are doing valve and hydrant maintenance. Mowing outfalls. So we're really making sure we have access to our utilities. Everything that we have in place is kind of already ready to make those repairs. So we're not being so much reactive as all being proactive. Sometimes water and sewer lines unexpectedly break, but we're preparing towns, been here for a good while. So some pipe, you know, driving over it, you know, in the ground, it rocks well where it gets the pipe maybe cause a hole or selling out the ground. Things move and shift. So when we get the call. The clock starts of us trying to get this repair completed, you know, in an efficient time to minimize, you know, outages from residents and to minimize the damage from the leak itself. There's a lot of moving parts. You know, when, when it comes to the repairs, you know, there's a lot of people, a lot of people going in different directions. Some of the other crews may be beginning to gather equipment together and parts and supplies. Once we determine where the leak is, how bad it is, you know, the first thing we try to do is, is to get the leak stopped or the sewer stopped. We know that emergencies or inconvenience to residents. We've been out Christmas Day, Christmas morning, Thanksgiving. I've left dinner tables. We've been out in the middle of the night. We're doing all that we can to to lessen the impact of while we're making these repairs.
