Last week we celebrated the grand opening of Tricon Garland, a new build-to-rent community in Garland, Texas. This community delivers 101 new professionally managed single-family homes, helping to meet the Texas’ growing housing demand.
Tricon’s Andy Carmody led the event alongside Matt McGhee of HHS Residential, David O'Neill of Blackstone, Mayor Dylan Hedrick, State Representative Angie Chen Button , and Councilmember Ed Moore.
During a time of tremendous growth, Tricon, in partnership with Blackstone, is providing more Texas families with the opportunity to access high-quality housing at prices well below the cost of ownership.
Despite a population that has nearly doubled since the 1960s, we're still building roughly the same amount of homes nationally each year as we were back then. That shortfall drives up costs and puts affordable housing out of reach for far too many hard working families. The completion of Tricon Garland is a meaningful step forward. One that helps address the housing shortage. And the affordability challenges that come with it. Our residents can move in to Tricon, Garland and our other rental houses and neighborhoods knowing what their monthly cost will be, knowing what they have to spend. And the rest is on us. We often think about really the most important things like. How will our children and our residents children? Enjoy and utilize these spaces and we have these vigorous kind of debates and conversations and often talk about the elements of the parks nearby, our own homes that our kids enjoy. And then we incorporate those ideas here. And so it's a very personal process for for many of us. I'm the one and only state representative actually living Garland. Garland just isn't that awesome place to live and to play, to work and now. You are smart enough to build out this beautiful community to allow the people enter into the workforce and also find very very nice and also flexible environment place to stay. Thank you. Try calling Blackstone. Thank you for building a strong community with us. We appreciate you. This community offers more than just housing, it offers stability. Accessibility and high quality amenities in a location that keeps residents connected to jobs, schools, parks, and the best of Garland. We are proud that companies like Tricon see Garland is a place worthy of investment and their decision to build here demonstrates the confidence in our city's growth, our talented workforce, and our vision for a vibrant, inclusive future.
I'm glad to see BTR communities in larger cities instead of just the tertiary markets (at least here in DFW). It's a product that not only people want but is also needed to solve the housing shortage in Dallas/Fort Worth.
