Introducing our second act with comedian Shane Gillis for Under Armour & Notre Dame as we kickoff the college football season.
When we first worked with Shane, Notre Dame Football was in en route to the National Championship game earlier this year. Beyond the engagement, hilarity, and all the earned media that came from our first go, what I love about the first spot is that we flipped the script and told the story from a fan's perspective.
In this case, the biggest Notre Dame fan in Shane Gillis. It clearly resonated.
This time around we had some fun taking the approach of introducing Shane as a big time donor to the program.
For best supporting role in a sports film, it is a really close race between Coach Marcus Freeman and Shane's father, Phil.
Here's to a great college football season. #marketing#underarmour
Coach Freeman. Hey, what's up? This is Shane Gillis. He's one of our newest donors. Hey, Coach, how are you? Very good to meet you. I've, we've, we've met a bunch of times. Coach, I got to tell you, his donations do come with some requests. OK, like, well, he wants to be able to attend some practices. Yeah, no problem. Alright. And he also wants his own whistle. Whistle. Go. Go another boat, run it back. I didn't love it. I got ideas, I got good ideas. Everything about line them up on all on one side. No, never. No. Well, give it a shot. Yeah, alright. It was a good day today. It's alright. I'll take a coat. Gotta be a lot better. We got guys loafing. You guys got to be accountable. And I'll start holding him a little accountable because right now we have a lot of work. No, no, no. Don't worry about it. I got the whistle. Well, we can. We can talk about later. We just talked about it. We'll get it later. What else you got? He would like all you can eat access to the team dinners. There's no all you can eat access some taters. That one is a must have for me there. And he would like to sing the victory March before each team dinner. Coach, he'd also like to join in for some pregame speeches. You wanna give a speech? Let me introduce the opening act, comedian. Shane Gillis. Hey, how's it going? A little more energy would have been great. South Bend, how we doing? Makes noise. So dating is weird, right? So you guys play the other day, maybe you could have used the 5th down? This guy loves it. What is this I'm doing? This is I'm doing stand up, man. None of us like it. I know none of you guys like it. I can tell. Sorry this is this was a mistake. I love you guys. Hey, that's it for me, Coach Freeman, everybody. See, that's how you do it. Ohh. I'm sorry Shane, we can't do any of this stuff. OK, how about this? You let me play one down with you. You wanna play? Before you say no, think about this. You guys got a big lead, you run a couple of trick plays, all of a sudden we got the ball back. I'm at every game. I don't even have to be on the sidelines. I'll be out in the parking lot. Full pads, chin strap buckle. I get the call. Go. Hey, we need you to run one right up the middle. 6 points guarantee. Bam. Now it's time to hand me the ball. I'm not afraid to lower my shoulder. Aren't you like 45? I'm 37. Whoa. I'll think about it. He's not going to think about that. I had a feeling that wasn't going great.
