This week's International Peace Institute (IPI) Global Leaders Series, "Insights from The Business of Philanthropy," underscored a simple truth: when philanthropy operates like a smart investment, backed by local leadership and rigorous measurement, its impact scales. Key themes: strategic giving, cross-sector collaboration, and long-term commitment. Thank you to IPI and the panel for an insightful conversation. The session reinforced that meaningful change requires more than good intentions. Treat philanthropic capital like patient investment, empower local leadership, build multi-sector partnerships, and prioritise measurement to learn and adapt. These shifts are essential for scalable and sustainable impact. #philanthropy #impact #socialchange #globalleaders #sustainability #impactinvesting
Mrs M, I was able to listen in to your discussion last week and I was heartened to hear how you were able to speak from the last visits to the sites where investment isneing made. You did an excellent job of connecting being on the ground and being responsive to emerging realities to the need for a more system wide strategic vision. All this at a time when a number of countries are crafting five year strategies and plans to support health sector responses and investment. As a trustee, I feel privileged to come alongside the work of that you , Delta Philanthropies/ Higherlife Foundation and their partners are doing in Africa.
100%. Collaboration with and between international and local partner’s is critical to meet the needs of ecomically challenged social environments.@ MeiklesFoundation
This is amazing and inspiring. Team please let me be part of you. I have something to contribute though not in the form of convertible cash but that thing is more than cash. I can assure you once you let me in I will reshape and drive the organization or collaboration with innovation that will inspire everyone and every stakeholder. Warm regards, Dr. Golden Phiri.

Thank you Mrs T Masiyiwa
Job well done Mrs.M.
Well done mum masiyiwa
This is great and the right direction in which Philanthropy should proceed, as smart investment. Beyond obtaining the backing of local leaders, local communities also need to provide their buy in into philanthropic investments and actively participate in them to enhance impact and sustainability (participatory smart investment) :-)
