It's time for a minute ish with Michael. Today I'm here with Martin Butler, the executive director of NSA I. It's one of the United Ways, more than 60 funded partners. And today we're gonna talk about food insecurity. So you are well versed with United Ways term of Alice, asset limited income constrained, employed. Tell us a little bit about how you see the Alice individual and family showing up here at MSI. Well, our average family size is 3. It's a single mom with two kids generally working, always employed. Sometimes 2 jobs, which is why we're open on Sundays because well people just can't get here during the week. The challenge that they have is that food prices continue to go up. With those increase in prices it it's harder and harder for our neighbors to the utility bills or pay their rent and provide food for their families. Just are trying to stop that getting in the way of them thriving. We were started in 1965 for a lot of reasons. I'm majority of our roots are gone and we are writing. For grants and doing more fundraising and trying to ameliorate the losses that come from from that the funding that you receive from United Way of Central Ohio, where do you invest those dollars? Almost all of them go to buying food because a majority of our families have two kids in them and we want them to be successful by third grade. We know the value of eating consistently every day and what that does to a child, what it does to their education and their focus and. We want to be a part of that as much as possible because in our neighborhood, there are not a lot of extra resources around. So let's talk, because there's not a problem Columbus can't fix.
