September is Suicide Prevention Month. Across the veterinary profession, our teams face unique challenges every day: balancing the joy of caring for animals with the weight of difficult decisions, emotional strain, and the high standards of our calling. Heartbreakingly, the rates of suicide in veterinary medicine are among the highest of any profession. At VetnCare, we are committed to breaking the stigma around mental health and ensuring that no one feels they have to struggle in silence. We stand with organizations like Not One More Vet (NOMV), who provide crucial resources, education, and support to veterinary professionals worldwide. We also take seriously our responsibility to care for our own teams. Through our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), every VetnCare team member has access to confidential counseling, mental health services, and support for themselves and their families. Suicide prevention starts with awareness, compassion, and connection. This month, and every month, we encourage our colleagues, pet parents, and community to check in with one another, sometimes the smallest conversation can make the biggest difference. If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out. You are not alone. 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline
