2025 Fall Associate Q&A: Edward Nester

What is your professional background, and what led you to develop an interest in that field?

Prior to law school, I worked as an engineer in roles related to medical devices and web technologies. I studied biomedical engineering and computer science in undergrad, and my interest in those fields were driven by a desire to use my passion for science and technology to help improve the quality of life of people everywhere.

What attracted you to a career in intellectual property law at Knobbe Martens?

During law school, it became clear to me that Knobbe Martens is home to many talented intellectual property attorneys. The firm is well connected with the Orange County legal community and since I knew I wanted to stay in OC and practice IP law, Knobbe Martens was my top choice.

What is one thing you enjoy doing outside of the office?

I enjoy reading, learning new things, and playing video games.
