Airbus Issues Global Update on A320 Family Precautionary Measures

Airbus has released an update regarding the worldwide deployment of precautionary actions affecting certain in-service A320 Family aircraft, following the Alert Operators Transmission (AOT) published on 28 November 2025.

According to the manufacturer, approximately 6,000 aircraft across the global fleet were identified as potentially impacted by the technical issue addressed in the AOT. The sweeping precautionary instructions required immediate action and triggered one of the largest coordinated modification efforts in recent years for the A320 programme.

Airbus confirmed that the vast majority of affected aircraft have already undergone the required modifications, thanks to close coordination with airline customers, aviation authorities, and operational teams. Fewer than 100 aircraft are still undergoing updates, with Airbus supporting operators to ensure their swift return to service.

In its official message, the company expressed appreciation for the cooperation across the industry and addressed the operational challenges created by the measures. Airbus stated:

“Airbus apologises for any challenges and delays caused to passengers and airlines by this event. The Company thanks its customers, the authorities, its employees and all relevant stakeholders involved for their support in implementing these measures, and for their understanding of Airbus’ decision to put safety above all other considerations.”

The A320 Family remains the backbone of many airline fleets worldwide, and disruptions of this scale underscore the complexity of maintaining global air transport operations while prioritizing safety.
