US Army awards $9.8 billion contract, enhancing readiness and lethality

Lockheed Martin and Army Contracting Command - Redstone Arsenal have signed the FY24-26 PAC-3 MSE contract, strengthening the Army's missle defense capabilities and supporting rediness for U.S. and allied forces worldwide.

The U.S. Army’s Program Executive Office Missiles and Space, in coordination with Army Contracting Command-Redstone Arsenal, has definitized the Undefinitized Contract Action for a multi-year contract supporting production of the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 Missile Segment Enhancement system.

The $9.8 billion contract, awarded to Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, covers fiscal years 2024 through 2026. It includes procurement of 1,970 PAC-3 MSE missiles and associated hardware for U.S. and international partners.

Multi-year procurement contracts are used by the Department of Defense to secure goods and services beyond a single fiscal year. These agreements allow for incremental funding subject to annual appropriations and offer long-term stability for suppliers, improving planning and resource allocation. Read more.

Tobyhanna Army Depot is playing a pivotal role in the Department of Defense’s quest for battlefield superiority.

The organization successfully completed its first delivery of first-person view small uncrewed aircraft systems, commonly referred to as sUAS, on Aug. 28, marking a significant milestone in advancing its mission to enhance readiness for America’s warfighters.

The Army and DOD’s transformation initiatives seek to facilitate a leaner and more agile Army through development of modernized UAS/sUAS capabilities, as highlighted in the memo titled “Unleashing U.S. Military Drone Dominance.” In it, U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth described drones as “the biggest battlefield innovation in a generation.” Read more.


Army announces additional competitive award for Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) prototyping efforts

The U.S. Army has awarded a new Other Transaction Authority (OTA) agreement to Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems and their team of non-traditional innovators and commercial technology providers. This agreement aims to advance the Army’s Next Generation Command and Control division-level prototyping and experimentation by delivering an integrated data layer capability to the 25th Infantry Division.

 Next Generation Command and Control, or NGC2, is the Army’s new, innovative approach to equipping commanders with the data they need to make better, faster decisions than the enemy amid rapid technological change.

The OTA was awarded through the NGC2 ompetitive Commercial Solutions Offering (CSO) on behalf of Program Executive Office Command, Control, Communications, and Network (PEO C3N) for $26 million with a not to exceed period of performance of 16 months. . Read more.


2nd Cavalry Regiment poised to take on 'OPFOR' in Saber Junction 25

Soldiers of V Corps' 2nd Cavalry Regiment convoyed from Grafenwoehr Training Area to Hohenfels Training Area Sept. 3, where they are set to go "in the box" of Saber Junction 25.

More than 7,300 U.S., NATO and partner nations forces are training together for 7th Army Training Command’s third U.S. Army Transformation in Contact 2.0 exercise at Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels Training Areas in Germany during Saber Junction 25, which started Aug. 14 and runs through Sept. 21.

“Collective training in Europe increases warfighting readiness and ensures U.S., allied and partner forces remain postured to defend against any global threat,” said Brig. Gen. Terry Tillis, 7ATC commanding general. “Exercise Saber Junction supports EUCOM’s objectives and builds trust, accountability and shared readiness among NATO Allies, alongside U.S. Army Europe and Africa’s troops stationed in Europe, while looking to the future and testing the U.S. Army’s modernization initiatives in a realistic and dynamic training scenario.”R


Know your resources to be stronger in suicide prevention

September is Suicide Prevention Month, a time dedicated to building awareness of available resources for those who may need support and for those who want to help someone they know.

At U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command, Lt. Col. Gregory Mcvey, the CECOM chaplain, is one of those resources for all Soldiers, Department of Defense Civilians, and their family members.

“Those contemplating suicide are not always religious, let alone Christian or part of the other major denominations,” Mcvey said. “The cross on my uniform signifies my Christian faith, but my title of chaplain includes the role as counselor, confidant and advocate. Regardless of one’s beliefs, chaplains stand ready and willing to help anyone in their desperate time of need. ”Read more.
