Brilliant and unabashedly ambitious minds want to change the world. Lets go!

Magazines and other media are running negative stories today how young “boys” have taken over federal agencies, and are running the show. We need to take a deeper look at what is really going on below the surface, and how to harness the incredible opportunity this represents.

We stand on the brink of a monumental shift in human history, driven not just by distant dreams of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) or Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI), but by the transformative power of AI as it exists today. While debates about the future of AGI and ASI capture headlines, the reality is that current AI technologies are already outperforming humans in numerous domains — particularly in scenarios where collaboration among large groups of people often leads to inefficiencies. Government is a good example of that where inefficiencies are simply outlandish.

Over the past decade, exceptional young talent has gravitated towards pioneering institutions like DeepMind, OpenAI, Palantir, Tesla, SpaceX, Google, and Meta, etc. People arrive their barely out of high school and college, and learn how to make shit happen quickly. These innovators are equipped with potent tools of software programming, cloud and networked infrastructure, and advanced AI capabilities — allowing them to be placed anywhere on earth and become effective right away.

Today, having seen successes at those companies many of them are branching out, driven by a mission to tackle some of the world’s most complex and pressing problems. Their enthusiasm is our hope and opportunity.

Their ambitions extend far beyond creating the next chatbot. These young and restless visionaries aim to fundamentally improve human lives and make the world a better place — even if often they ar enot quite sure how to actually do that. Regardless of whether we align with their politics or methodologies — which are frankly often influenced by other individuals with policy-driven agendas that are around them— one thing is clear: they are unapologetically ambitious. Their goals include defending national interests, strengthening American supply chains, revolutionizing manufacturing, reducing dependency on foreign regimes, and ways of eliminating waste to foster hyper-efficiency in our daily lives.

These trailblazers are unafraid of challenging established incumbents or facing public scrutiny-whether in business or in government. They are on a mission to change the world, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that those guiding and advising them recognize the immense duty and responsibility they bear. This raw energy and determination must be channeled constructively to prevent it from going astray.

This is a pivotal moment for America. We are privileged to witness a generation of bright minds harnessing the most advanced technological tools to enhance our quality of life, bolster our economy, and safeguard our national interests. Their work has the potential to reestablish America as a global leader, both ideologically and practically. Isn’t it great if done right?

Our role is clear: we must invest in these innovators and offer them the leadership and ethical guidance necessary to ensure their efforts are not exploited by those driven by narrow self-interests. By doing so, we can help shape a future where technology serves humanity’s highest ideals, propelling us toward a more prosperous and just world.

This is my focus in my little world of investing. Partnering with brilliant tech founders to make a positive difference in the real world. I am excited to hear from you if you are one of them.

The labor marketplace built by Silicon Valley couldn’t compete with global talent or agentic AI, so the Stanford dropouts and puffy vests follow a well paved road to corporate welfare. Feels like a recipe for more Lex Luthors than Captain Americas.

Child-soldiers in the Musk army. Come on Bilal, you're squinting to see the silver lining that isn't there. Government isn't like the private sector, one of it's roles is to fill in where the market fails, another is to temper and smooth out the volatility of the open market, since many times that volatility is not in the best interests of a stable society. It is simply inappropriate to universally apply "move fast and break things" to government operations without understanding the consequences. I'll stipulate to the brilliant minds of these kids but they have all the knowledge and none of the understanding. None of the wisdom.

I think you and the media agree - are these individuals being given “the leadership and ethical guidance necessary to ensure their efforts are not exploited by those driven by narrow self-interests. “

I don’t think the media is criticizing their gender. The criticism is more that they are somewhat uninformed minions executing Elon Musks ideas without deep appreciation of the systems they are upending and perhaps also lacking empathy for the negative impacts. I am not judging the verity of it, but that’s my interpretation of the narrative. I think we should avoid “ genderizing” the criticisms.

"This raw energy and determination must be channeled constructively to prevent it from going astray." I'd argue that many tech leaders are constructively channeling some of them to do utterly destructive things. Therein lies the problem.
