Data Cloud Authentication, LWC File Analyser, SOQL Lib v5.2.0, TypeScript Deep Dive Video, and 2025 Salesforce Developer Survey
Welcome to this week's CloudBites Weekly, your one-stop shop for an overview of the latest and shiniest news and releases from people throughout the Salesforce ecosystem. It's that time of the week again, so go grab a drink and settle in to see what we have unearthed this week.
Data Cloud Authentication Patterns
Over the past 12 months, Data Cloud has become a bigger and bigger part of how the Salesforce setup for many organisations as part of the rollout of Agentforce, and recently, we have seen a spate of organisations sharing they have been the victims of cyber attacks including Google and Allianz, and Cyber Security News is also now reporting that hacker groups are even coordinating to attack Salesforce in new and innovative ways.
This makes ensuring that you are connecting to external systems from Salesforce even more important to ensure that your entire stack is secure and has a reduced attack surface. Dilip Mandadi and Anurag Juneja , both from the Salesforce Data Cloud Product Management team, released a great post on Salesforce Blogger this week about authentication patterns for Data Cloud and how you should look to secure your access to external data sources. Make sure to have a read, as the advice is very solid for all connections on the platform, not just for Data Cloud. The Salesforce Blogger site (curated by Rikke Hovgaard ) is a fantastic resource in general, so make sure to check it out.
SOQL Lib v5.2.0
Piotr Gajek and the team at Beyond The Cloud have released a new version of their SOQL Lib library this week. SOQL Lib provides a simple to setup and use Selector pattern setup for you to use in your projects. It has a nice and simple Fluent API and is easy to setup. A particularly cool feature of this latest release is the ability to output different collections that will save you a number of loops, an example of which is shown in the image below:
What is exciting is that coincidentally we have a CloudBites Sandbox Sessions livestream in which Paul Battisson and Peter Chittum will be playing with SOQL Lib and exploring how it works on stream. You can find Piotr's announcement post with links to all the details here, and feel free to join us this afternoon (or use the links to catch up on the recordings) to see the library in action on YouTube or LinkedIn Live.
LWC File Analyser Using Agentforce
Justus van den Berg , a man who seems to never sleep but always be releasing cool stuff, shared an LWC he built this week that uses Agentforce to analyse documents you upload into Salesforce which you can then ask questions about.
What's great is that Justus has not only crafted this and released it as an open source library for you to play with, but as has a full Medium post breaking down all the steps in building it out so you can understand the process. You can find his post with a link to his blog, the repository and some screenshots here.
TypeScript Deep Dive and the SalesforceBen Developer Survey
Finally this week, I wanted to share a little something I got up to whilst visiting Peter Chittum and the Salesforce Ben team a couple of weeks ago to record some videos for a series we have coming up. Whilst that series is still going through editing (the amount of touching up my face needs is taxing every AI filter possible 💄) we did record another video on TypeScript, a cool language that is a superset of JavaScript that is coming to Lightning Web Components soon and is currently in Developer Preview.
If you're a Salesforce Developer or Architect, or just curious about what TypeScript is and how it will help you in the future, have a watch. There are also some terrible jokes and some thoughts from me on why I think now is a fantastic time to be a Salesforce developer and where the platform is heading.
The Salesforce Ben team are also running their developer survey, so if you are a developer or an architect head over now and have your say.
And that's it for this week...
Another week is complete. Thank you for reading, and please remember to subscribe if you don't already and want to stay update, or share with a colleague who might find it useful. As a little tip for this week as well, a reminder that support for Workflow Rules and process Builder is ending at the end of this year. we are already in the middle of August 😱 and time will keep flying past, so make sure you have started to plan how you might migrate these to Flow or Apex.
Have a great weekend, a great week ahead, and I'll see you all next Friday!
