Emirates Expands Courier Express Service to Australia, Boosting Cross-Border Delivery Capabilities
Emirates SkyCargo has announced the expansion of its Emirates Courier Express service to Australia, just months after its initial launch. This strategic move highlights the airline’s growing commitment to redefining the cross-border delivery landscape by providing faster, more reliable, and highly scalable shipping solutions tailored to modern business and consumer needs.
The expanded service will now cover four major Australian cities, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney, with over 70 weekly flights. These shipments will leverage Emirates’ extensive passenger flight network, offering seamless door-to-door delivery from global markets in Europe and the Middle East, reducing transit times to just a few days.
“Since the early test phase of Emirates Courier Express, we knew Australia would be a key market. Logistically challenging and historically underserved, businesses and end consumers will feel the benefits of our direct connectivity, high-frequency flight schedules, and flexible, scalable solution,” said Dennis Lister, Senior Vice President of Product and Innovation, Emirates SkyCargo.
Emirates has served Australia for over three decades, and this latest initiative is a natural progression in its evolution. Emirates Courier Express seeks to close the longstanding gap in cross-border logistics that has hampered growth for many Australian businesses.
Despite increasing global consumer confidence in cross-border e-commerce, the International Trade Administration notes that only 6% of international shoppers currently purchase from Australia. This low percentage is largely attributed to long delivery times, high logistics costs, and inconsistent last-mile experiences. On the flip side, Australia has seen a 45% surge in inbound small parcel volume over the last two years, reflecting the rapid growth of online shopping across the country.
By disrupting the traditional hub-and-spoke logistics model, Emirates Courier Express offers direct connectivity via Dubai, minimising transit delays and reducing package handling at multiple checkpoints. This not only improves efficiency but also significantly enhances delivery accuracy and security.
In addition to transporting general consumer goods, the service is equipped to handle speciality cargo such as critical medical equipment, perishables, and time-sensitive shipments, thanks to Emirates’ world-class cargo infrastructure and handling expertise.
The Courier Express platform is fully digital and easily integrable with customer systems, offering real-time tracking and end-to-end visibility for each shipment. These features aim to boost transparency, build customer trust, and ensure smooth logistics operations across borders.
Through this expansion, Emirates SkyCargo reinforces its long-standing mission: to enable global commerce, support businesses of all sizes, and provide seamless connectivity in an increasingly interconnected world.
