We kick started the year with Greenvolt Next’s presence in the largest renewable energy fair in Poland, Solar Energy Expo , strengthening our commitment to accelerating the energy transition in the country.

Residências Montepio Invests in solar energy

Residências Montepio SA , a provider of senior living and long-term care services in Portugal, is on track to have more sustainable and efficient energy production and consumption! With the support of Greenvolt Next , they now have an installed capacity of 269,73 kWp in six of their facilities, avoiding 83 tons of CO2 per year and contributing to the transition to 100% renewable energy usage in those facilities. Throught this partnership with Greenvolt Next, Residências Montepio now benefits from better cost predictability, increased energy efficiency, and a faster decarbonization process.

Greenvolt & Corticeira Amorim: Six Energy Communities

Greenvolt Comunidades has joined forces with Corticeira Amorim , the renowned Portuguese company specialized in the production and commercialization of cork, to establish six new energy Communities across Portugal.  

With this partnership, Corticeira Amorim will optimize its existing photovoltaic production by enhancing their energy usage. What does that mean? That from the 18 self-consumption production units (UPAC) that Corticeira Amorim currently operates, the 5GWh of surplus energy produced annually will be managed and shared through 23 of the company's self-consumption points, increasing energy efficiency and lowering its costs.

Spain’s Energy-Community & Battery Storage Model

A new electricity market model for energy distribution was developed by researchers from the University of Jaén in Spain in collaboration with the University of Hong Kong and the University of Amman in Jordan. This model aims to integrate energy communities and battery energy systems (BESS) effectively, resulting in a lower reliance on high-priced distributed energy from the wholesale market.  The researchers have tested this model in various types of electrical networks and it has demonstrated its viability, resulting in a more efficient use of the distributed resources.

Extruplás: A Model for Sustainability & Competitiveness

It’s in projects like Extruplás,Lda s that we see the impact we have on businesses by the results we achieve. 

Extruplás, a company dedicated to transforming mixed plastics into 100% recycled and recyclable urban furniture, partnered with Greenvolt Next to implement two solar installations on the rooftops of their facilities located in Seixal and Maia, Portugal. This energy solution will reduce their energy costs while making their products even more sustainable, enhancing their competitiveness and lowering their carbon footprint.  

The results speak for themselves, and João Guerra, CFO of Extruplás, confirms: "We have indeed noticed differences in our bills, with costs reduced by around 40%. This project makes us very proud."

Celebrating Sofia Pinto Barbosa’s Re-election

Greenvolt Group is proud to announce the re-election of Sofia Pinto Barbosa , Director of Regulatory Affairs at Greenvolt Group, as Chair of the Buildings & Prosumers Workstream at SolarPower Europe , the award-winning link between policymakers and the solar energy value chain.  

Her role in this workstream is of great importance on promoting the development of onsite solar, self-consumption, and energy sharing, highlighting Greenvolt's expertise and commitment to energy transition. 

At the event, Sustainable SolarPower, Sofia also had the opportunity to share some insights of Greenvolt's projects on energy-sharing models and their potential to empower communities, demonstrating how energy transition can be a collective effort.
