Four Girl Scouts from Central Texas to Represent Girl Scouting Worldwide at the United Nation's 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women

Girl Scouts will participate in panel discussions, meet world leaders, connect with Girl Scout sisters from across the country, and advocate for gender equality.

In March 2026, four Girl Scouts from Girl Scouts of Central Texas (GSCTX) will travel to the United Nations Headquarters in New York City to represent Girl Scouting on a global stage at the United Nation's 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70). The CSW is a functional commission of the United Nations, dedicated exclusively to gender equality and the advancement of women. Annually, national representatives gather for a two-week session to evaluate progress on gender equality, identify challenges, set global standards, and formulate concrete policies to promote gender equality and the advancement of women worldwide.

While at CSW70, Girl Scouts will engage with leaders on global advocacy, learn about global issues, see firsthand how global entities function, and raise their voices on key global issues impacting girls and young women. Following the commission session, these Girl Scout delegates will reach additional girls in their communities by sharing their CSW70 experiences through back-home amplification projects that inform more girls about CSW and other global opportunities in Girl Scouting.

Meet the Delegates

Vandya A. (Girl Scout Senior, 10th Grade, Austin, TX) has been a Girl Scout for 11 years and brings a wealth of experience to this historic delegation. An accomplished leader, Vandya has earned the Girl Scout Silver Award and is currently working towards her Girl Scout Gold Award. As a member of the Girl Scout Advisory Board for the Central Texas council, Vandya helps provide input on council initiatives and represents the voices of Girl Scouts across the region. With aspirations to pursue a career in finance and law, Vandya is excited to learn from global leaders on issues of gender equality and justice.

Sravya A. (Girl Scout Ambassador, 12th Grade, Austin, TX) has been a Girl Scout since fifth grade and is passionate about making a positive environmental impact. Sravya has earned her Silver Award and is working towards her Gold Award. Beyond Girl Scouting, she shares her love of dance by teaching younger students and volunteers at a local hospital. With a keen interest in math and chemistry, Sravya plans to pursue a career in chemical engineering where she hopes to develop innovative solutions that make a positive impact on the environment.

Naina S. (Girl Scout Ambassador, 11th Grade, Austin, TX) is committed to amplifying overlooked voices through storytelling. A Girl Scout since second grade, Naina is undertaking a Gold Award project to share the stories of women veterans and honor their service. She believes that storytelling can spark empathy and create meaningful change in communities. At school, Naina is involved in Model UN and serves as Vice President of the Spanish Honor Society. She looks forward to learning from the women at CSW70 and bringing back knowledge and experiences to help her community feel more connected and informed about the laws and policies that affect their lives. Naina plans to study chemical engineering in college to utilize science and technology to address the challenges people face  every day.

Isabelle "Izzy" Y. (Girl Scout Ambassador, 11th Grade, Austin, TX) is a passionate leader known for her exceptional creativity, empathy, and commitment to service. An Academy for Global Studies student at Austin High School, Izzy is an active member of Girl Scouts of Central Texas, serving in Walnut Creek Troop 172 and the Scuba Troop. A true adventurer at heart, Izzy has traveled through Girl Scouts to destinations including the Grand Canyon, Hawaii, Curaçao, Japan, and Europe. At Austin High, she balances her cheerleading and student council responsibilities with her involvement in the Environmental Action Club, Live to Give, and contributions to the culinary program and Hall of Honor planning team.

Joslin A. (Girl Scout Ambassador, 10th Grade, Austin, TX) – Alternate Delegate – is determined to make the world a better place through public service and community advocacy. With aspirations to become a lawyer and eventually serve as a senator, Joslin is passionate about advocating for initiatives that bring awareness to issues impacting women and mental health. During her time in Girl Scouts, Joslin hosted World Thinking Day for her service unit to earn the International WAGGGS Award. For her Bronze Award, she partnered with Dell Children's Center to create grounding therapy rocks for healthcare workers as part of a resiliency project. For her Silver Award, Joslin worked with her middle and high school counselors to bring mindfulness tools and coping mechanisms to students struggling with school stress and anxiety.

A Global Platform for Girl Leaders

Each year, Girl Scouts of the USA joins over 5,000 women and girls from around the world at the United Nations Headquarters to participate in CSW. Following a rigorous national application process and round of interviews, Girl Scouts from across the country were carefully selected to represent Girl Scouting on the global stage.

CSW70 Priorities

The 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women focuses on two critical themes:

Priority Theme: Ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including by promoting inclusive and equitable legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws, policies, and practices, and addressing structural barriers.

Review Theme: Women's full and effective participation and decision making in public life, as well as the elimination of violence, for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.

Congrats to all the girls! Proud of them. Looking forward to their great work for CSW70.

Thank you GSCTX! I’m so thrilled for this opportunity and can’t wait to represent our council at the CSW!
