Oya Energy Hybrid Facility awarded the prestigious "Project Finance Deal of the Year" at Tamarindo Energy Storage Investment Awards in London

G7 Renewable Energies is delighted to announce that the Oya Energy Hybrid Facility Project has been awarded the prestigious "Project Finance Deal of the Year" at the Tamarindo Energy Storage Investment Awards 2024. Competing against no less than ten shortlisted projects from around the globe, OYA emerged as the winner, cementing its status as a groundbreaking initiative in renewable energy generation and storage.     

G7 Renewable Energies CEO Dr Kilian Hagemann expressed his gratitude to the many stakeholders and partners in the project, namely ENGIE Africa, Perpetua Investment Managers (Pty) Ltd, Meadows Energy, G7 team members, RMB - Rand Merchant Bank and Green Giraffe Advisory.  

Dr Hagemann said, “Green Giraffe Advisory, a global leader in renewable energy financial advisory, played a pivotal role in OYA’s success. Their support has been instrumental in structuring the project to achieve both technical and financial milestones.”

The inaugural Energy Storage Investment Awards celebrates the successes, deals, and people of the global storage industry, incorporating innovation, financing, project development, and asset management. Hosted by Tamarindo, a specialist insight and communications advisory, the awards gala dinner in London brought together over 200 key energy storage decision-makers working throughout the finance, development and investment space.  

The 2024 Energy Storage Investment Awards ceremony was held in London on 3 December 2024.
