At the recent Eurofi event in Copenhagen, Nasdaq leaders emphasized two critical priorities for Europe’s financial future: combating financial crime and advancing capital markets integration.

Roland Chai, President of European Markets, showcased the Nordic model as a blueprint for growth and resilience. Sweden’s success in fostering innovation and retail participation, demonstrates how harmonized legislation, competitive trading platforms, and rationalized post-trade infrastructure can unlock capital for high-growth companies and bolster security. Chai underscored the importance of centralized EU-level supervision, streamlined settlement processes, and regulatory agility to keep pace with technology and geopolitical challenges.  

Stephanie Champion , Head of Nasdaq Verafin , highlighted the staggering scale of illicit activity, with $750 billion in illicit funds flowing through Europe’s financial system in 2023 and fraud losses exceeding $100 billion. She called for unified action across regulators, banks, and law enforcement, stressing the need for AI-driven solutions, cross-border collaboration, and regulatory frameworks that enable real-time information sharing to protect consumers and strengthen financial integrity.

Nasdaq Chair and CEO Adena Friedman took the stage at the 2025 All In Summit, sharing her perspective on the forces reshaping global markets, from blockchain and AI to the balance between public and private capital.

She called for reforms to ease the IPO process, praised the rise of index investing for democratizing access, and reaffirmed confidence in the dollar as a global reserve currency — even as mounting debt poses challenges.

⚡ Nasdaq Expands Partnership with AWS to Help Modernize the Financial System 

Nasdaq and Amazon Web Services (AWS) recently announced that Nasdaq’s Calypso capital markets and treasury management platform will now be available as a fully managed service on Amazon Web Services infrastructure, marking a significant milestone as the companies expand their technology partnership. 

This milestone reflects Nasdaq’s broader commitment to reimagining infrastructure as a service—one that empowers institutions to operate with greater agility, adapt to change and unlock innovation across the financial system while accessing a more accessible, resilient and scalable platform that maintains mission-critical functionality for front-to-back-office operations.

📊 Nasdaq’s 2025 Income Allocation Survey: How Advisors Are Adapting to a Changing Market

Financial advisors are navigating a challenging environment—balancing stubborn inflation, shifting interest rates, and evolving client needs. Nasdaq’s 2025 Income Allocation Survey, conducted by Nasdaq Global Indexes, reveals how these dynamics are shaping income strategies and what it means for investors, issuers, and the markets. 

Key findings include: 

  • Steady Allocations, Shifting Strategies: Income-generating assets remain at 29% of portfolios, but the mix is evolving toward cash alternatives, passive ETFs (+11%), and active mutual funds (+9%). 
  • Changing Priorities: While 42% of advisors still focus on total return, 32% now prioritize paycheck replacement—reflecting growing retirement needs. 
  • Opportunities for Issuers: Advisors’ preference for ETFs, combined with demand for active strategies, signals a “huge opportunity gap” for active ETFs, according to Jillian DelSignore, Global Head of Investor Distribution Strategy at Nasdaq Global Indexes. 
  • Top Risks Ahead: Inflation (44%), market volatility (34%), and interest rate changes (33%) remain advisors’ biggest concerns for the next 12 months. 

“There’s an insatiable appetite for yield… We’re not talking about a satellite allocation anymore. We’re talking about a ballast in a portfolio,” said DelSignore.
