In the Spotlight: Austin Davis - PhoenixTeam’s Leader in Product and Practical, Outcome-Driven AI

Innovation isn’t just about chasing the latest tools, it’s about solving real problems. Austin Davis, Product Leader and emerging AI Services Leader, turns that belief into action by combining product discipline with responsible AI to create outcomes that matter. He brings a product strategist’s mindset to every client engagement, working closely with mortgage lenders and servicers to modernize operations, strengthen governance, and align product decisions with broader business goals.

For Austin, asking “what if?”  is a daily practice. He thrives on taking messy, unclear problems and turning them into solutions that not only resolve the issue but also improve efficiency across the board. That mindset drives his work helping clients navigate transformation, building tools that tackle complex mortgage challenges and turn uncertainty into clarity.

Internally, Austin also leads PhoenixTeam’s Product Management and Design Community of Practice – a forum where product managers and designers share best practices, templates, and successes. But whether inside the company or with clients, Austin’s focus isn’t just on process improvement; it’s on outcomes.

Lately, that’s meant building and testing AI-powered tools that address some of the most pressing challenges in the industry. Austin has been instrumental in shaping our approach to responsible AI, positioning PhoenixTeam as a leader in practical adoption. His work has helped clients break down dense regulatory documents, translate raw operational data into executive-level insights, and align granular control effectiveness with high-level corporate goals. These efforts continue to drive meaningful progress for our clients, strengthening the connection between strategy and execution and setting the stage for even greater transformation ahead.

“Innovation is most powerful when it’s grounded in real business problems,” Austin says. “At Phoenix, we’re not experimenting for the sake of it, we’re building AI solutions that directly support what clients are trying to achieve.”

That philosophy shaped his recent session at Mortgage Bankers Association of New Jersey (MBA NJ) , where Austin was a featured speaker. His talk, Putting AI to Work for You: A Playbook for Mortgage Brokers, tackled one of the industry’s biggest hurdles: how to adopt AI with structure and intention.

Successful adoption requires a playbook. Austin breaks it down into a framework that helps teams evaluate tools, embed them responsibly, and scale adoption with measurable results. These lessons couldn’t be more timely as the mortgage industry continues to face margin pressures and resource constraints, making efficiency and relationship-building more critical than ever. Applied with purpose, AI provides leverage for both.

Austin’s AI momentum comes from blending product discipline with outcome driven-approaches. By using AI to untangle complexity and reveal new opportunities, he’s helping clients see what’s possible and achieve results that matter. And as those solutions take hold, they lay the groundwork for a stronger, smarter foundation for the future of mortgage.
