● ERRATA: Wednesday’s Panorama post mistakenly identified USA Bobsled & Skeleton women’s push athlete Jasmine Jones as also being the Paris Olympic women’s 400 m hurdler. Nope. Jasmine Jones the bobsledder is 29 and a member of the U.S. Air Force; Jasmine Jones the hurdler is 23, attended USC and is in Tokyo for the 2025 World Athletics Championships. Sorry about that.

● Salt Lake City-Utah 2034: At the “Podium34" project announcement, organizing committee Executive Chair Fraser Bullock saluted the important contribution of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the success of the 2002 Games and that its contributions to the 2034 Games would be made public soon.
● Youth Sports: A major policy initiative of the Play Equity Fund, AB749, the “Youth Sports For All Act” has cleared the California State Legislature and headed to Governor Gavin Newsom. It would establish a commission to study a central entity to support and regulate youth sports in the State.
● Anti-Doping: Kenya was declared non-compliant by the World Anti-Doping Agency, from issues arising from a 2024 audit. The Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya has 21 days to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport if desired.
● Russia: An arrest warrant for the whistleblower Grigory Rodchenkov, in the U.S. since late 2015, was issued in Russia. He was the head of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency’s infamous Moscow lab during the 2011-15 state-sponsored doping project, but then exposed it, in detail.
● U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee: U.S. Figure Skating, US Speed Skating and USA Hockey have teamed up to create the “Ice House” hospitality center in Milan for the 2026 Winter Games, as reported by Sports Business Journal. The USOPC will not have a “USA House” at the Winter Games.
¶ Job alert: the USOPC is looking for Senior Directors for summer-sport and winter-sport strategy – both remote positions – to help direct the USOPC resources to maximum effect.
● Archery: Spain’s Andres Temino win an extra-end duel with Brazilian star Marcus D’Almeida to win the men’s Recurve title at the World Archery Championships in Korea.
● Athletics: Heat is on the minds of World Athletics and so the starts of the 35 km walks and the marathons has been moved back from 8 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. for all four races.
¶ The Athletics Integrity Unit has asked the Court of Arbitration for Sport to disqualify Ethiopian women’s 1,500 m star Diribe Welteji from the Worlds, appealing an acquittal from the Ethiopian National Anti-Doping Organization for failing to give a sample.
● Cycling: Time Trial star Filippo Ganna (ITA) won the Individual Time Trial in stage 18 of the Vuelta a Espana, shortened for safety reasons to 12.2 km. Dane Jonas Vingegaard continues to lead Joao Almeida (POR), now by 40 seconds.
● Football: The Russian Football Union said it is discussing a match with the U.S., to be held in Moscow or Washington, D.C. Even Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is helping.
