INL’s Jorgen Rufner, PhD will present at the 2025 Materials Informatics for Images and Multi-Dimensional Datasets conference, advancing the conversation around materials science and manufacturing.
His presentation is titled “Data-Driven Electric Field Assisted Sintering for Complex 3D Printed Preforms and CTE Interface Engineering of High Temperature CMCs.”
He chairs the session titled “Manufacturing and Processing of Advanced Ceramic Processing I: Sintering” and co-organized the session titled “Advances in Materials for a Hydrogen Economy – Hydrogen Fuel in Aerospace Sectors, and Progress in Hydrogen Production by Electrochemical Methods – Technical Advances and Obstacles.”
Together, these contributions lay the foundation for use of advanced manufacturing methods for creating materials in extreme environments.

📍National Recycling Congress | Wichita, Kansas
INL’s Ruby Thuy Nguyen will present “Creating ‘soft’ infrastructure for e-waste collection: Success stories from the field.”
She will share how Sunnking Sustainable Solutions has hosted free, large-scale e-waste drop-off events in New York and how, with support from the Department of Energy’s Vehicle Technologies Office, INL and Ecyclers of Idaho will bring this model to Idaho. Early results show strong demand for secure, accessible recycling.
Nguyen will also be a panelist in the session “Closing the Loop from E-Waste Disposal to Circular Design,” where she will highlight how community-driven events can help kickstart critical materials recovery efforts across the country.

GridSecCon is the largest grid security conference in North America. Don’t miss INL’s Chief Power Grid Scientist Emma Stewart as she joins a panel on managing new risks in the evolving energy landscape, focusing on traditional generation versus inverter-based resources. Later in the week, Stewart will team up with Megan Culler , INL’s technical director of critical energy cybersecurity, to present on cybersecurity threats and policy implications for battery energy storage systems.

Ollie Gagnon , INL’s chief homeland security advisor, will share how Cyber Florida at USF: The Florida Center for Cybersecurity and INL partnered to assess cybersecurity risks across Florida’s critical infrastructure sectors using a customized tool and how their data-driven approach and digital platform can help the aviation sector improve cyber readiness and resilience.
