⭐ GE HealthCare has achieved a remarkable advancement with their full-body 3D MR foundation model, and we’re proud that this breakthrough continues to be powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS). Developed in collaboration with leading academic medical centers, this innovation is helping transform medical imaging by significantly reducing model training time, enhancing quantitative task performance, and enabling more efficient clinical workflows. 📈 By using Amazon SageMaker, Amazon S3, and Amazon FSx for Lustre, researchers can now train and adapt these sophisticated models with unprecedented efficiency and security. The AWS and GE HealthCare collaboration is helping democratize access to advanced healthcare AI technologies, enabling researchers globally to push the boundaries of medical imaging innovation. #AWS #AWSforHealthcare #MedicalImaging #HealthTech
We recently announced the MR Foundation Model along with research collaborations at Mass General Brigham and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As early studies progress, we’re beginning to see how large-scale MR pretraining may support both clinical and operational research directions. The model was trained on more than 200,000 MR images using Fully Sharded Data Parallel computation to scale volumetric learning efficiently built on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure . Building on this foundation, UW–Madison demonstrated that a lightweight adapter trained on top of the model achieved an ROC–AUC of 0.95 on BraTS2020 after about 30 minutes of CPU training. This highlights the potential efficiency gains that unified MR representations may bring to exploratory tumor-related research. At Mass General Brigham, prostate MRI studies used the same representational backbone to explore classification and localization tasks, helping inform research on early risk-assessment frameworks. Operational studies at UW–Madison also showed promising results in anatomy detection, sequence validation, and other quality-focused tasks, illustrating how a single pretrained model can support research into workflow reliability and exam completeness. These early findings show how a unified MR foundation model may help bring clinical modeling and operational reliability research onto a shared representational base as the field continues to evolve.
